  • If I am not strong, or flexible, can I do this?
No, you don’t have to be strong or flexible to start taking classes at Pole Trix Dance & Fitness! In fact, many (all) people who begin pole dancing are still working on building their strength and flexibility, and that’s one of the reasons pole dance is such a great fitness journey. The beauty of pole and aerial dance is that it meets you where you are and helps you grow both physically and mentally. Here’s why you don’t need to worry about being strong or flexible before starting: 1. Strength Will Build Over Time Pole dance is an excellent way to build strength. When you start, you’ll focus on foundational movements that target your core, arms, legs, and back. As you progress, you'll see significant improvements in your overall strength. Classes at Pole Trix are designed for beginners, so instructors will guide you through exercises and techniques that are appropriate for your current level. You’ll gradually work your way up as your strength improves! 2. Flexibility Is Developed Gradually Flexibility is a skill that you can develop over time with consistent practice, and it doesn’t need to be there on day one. Pole dance classes often include stretches to help you improve flexibility at your own pace. If you’re not naturally flexible, that’s perfectly okay! Instructors will help you with modifications and techniques to get you comfortable, and your flexibility will improve as you practice more regularly. 3. Beginner-Friendly Progressions At Pole Trix, classes are designed for all levels. You won’t be expected to perform advanced moves right away. Instead, you'll start with basic skills and build up. The learning process is very much about taking it step by step, which helps prevent feeling overwhelmed. Instructors will likely offer alternative exercises or progressions, so you can still participate and learn the basics while working within your current abilities. 4. Focus on Form, Confidence, and Connection Pole dance is not just about physical strength—it’s also about confidence, expression, and personal growth. The supportive community at Pole Trix creates an environment where you can feel comfortable and safe as you learn and grow at your own pace. Everyone’s journey is different, and celebrating small milestones is a huge part of the experience. You'll build your confidence and see your body grow stronger as you progress. 5. Body Positivity and Inclusivity Pole Trix emphasizes inclusivity and body positivity, meaning that students of all backgrounds, body types, and fitness levels are welcomed and celebrated. Whether you're just starting or have been dancing for years, you’ll find a space where you feel supported and encouraged to explore your potential.
  • What do I wear?
Sports Bra or Fitted Tank: Choose a supportive sports bra or a fitted tank top that allows you to move freely and stay cool. A tank top is often preferred because it gives your arms full range of motion, which is important for gripping the pole and performing tricks. Shorts: Most pole dancers wear shorts (such as booty shorts or gym shorts) that allow your skin to make contact with the pole. Skin contact is crucial for grip when you're doing tricks and spins. Shorts also provide comfort and flexibility for leg and hip movements. Leggings or Capris (Optional): If you’re new to pole or prefer more coverage, you can start with leggings or capris, but keep in mind they won’t provide as much grip on the pole as bare skin. Leggings are often better for aerial classes (like silks or hoop) or conditioning, but for pole itself, shorts are usually the best choice. Barefoot: For most pole classes, you'll be barefoot. It's important to have good foot grip and stability on the floor. Comfort is Key: Whatever you choose, make sure it's comfortable and allows you to move freely. Avoid overly loose clothing that can get caught on the pole, and stay away from anything too tight that restricts movement. Avoid using heavy lotions, oils, or sprays on your skin before class, as these can reduce your grip on the pole and make it more difficult to perform movements safely. A light moisturizer is fine, but avoid anything too greasy.
